How much does it cost to rent a pressure washer?
What a day with a pressure washer really costs from a big-box rental counter versus a neighbor, what the fees and deposit are, and how to keep the total down.
The sticker price of a rental is only the start. A rental counter quotes a four-hour or daily rate, then adds a damage waiver, a fuel charge if you bring it back low, tax, and sometimes a deposit that is actually charged and refunded later. A neighbor-to-neighbor rental has fewer moving parts, so it is worth knowing exactly what you will pay before you book either one.
What you pay on Rentsome

Rental counter versus a neighbor
A store rental is convenient when you need a commercial unit at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday. For a Saturday driveway job, a neighbor two streets away usually wins on price, on the walk-through you get at pickup, and on not standing in a line. The trade-off is that you arrange the pickup time in messages rather than just showing up.
How to keep the total down
- 1Batch the jobs. Driveway, patio, fence and the car all fit in one day if you plan the order and have the nozzles ready.
- 2Pick the right unit. An electric 1,800 PSI washer handles decks, siding and vehicles; only concrete and heavy grime need a gas unit, and gas units cost more per day.
- 3Ask what is included. A surface cleaner attachment can halve the time on flat concrete.
- 4Return on time and clean. Late returns run into the next day’s rate, and a muddy return can cost a cleaning fee.
